Frequently asked questions.
FAQs
How many visits do I get?
It depends on your insurance. Most insurances will allow as many visits as medically necessary. Having a hard time latching? Covered. Figuring out how to get baby to take a bottle? Covered. Need help navigating back to work or starting solids? Covered and covered. For Aetna, 6 visits will be completely covered with higher cost sharing for visits 7 and beyond. For Tricare, you have 6 hours of care covered. For any Medi-Cal plan, you have 9 visits and it can be extended by an additional 9 as medically necessary.
What is Lactation Consultants of America?
Lactation Consultants of America (LCA) is a group practice I joined in January 2023. They handle all of the credentialing with insurances and billing, so I can be freed up to do what I do best: helping mothers and babies! If your insurance plan requires a co-pay, LCA will be the ones handling insurance billing.
Why are there no pictures of babies on your website?
I love babies, and I love seeing babies. I wanted my website to be approachable for everyone though. If a mother recently had a stillbirth, she will still need breastfeeding care; seeing pictures of healthy, happy babies could make a hard time even harder. After I had my own miscarriage, I know how hard it was going to work and seeing babies around every corner. Therefore, my website and office won’t have pictures of babies, in case anyone is going through a difficult time. If you are bereaved, let me know before your visit and I will add extra cushion time so you can have privacy.
When should I start seeing you?
Prenatal appointments are some of my favorite! I would love to meet a few times prenatally (in addition to my classes), that way you have some education under your belt before delivering your baby. Labor and immediately after birth are not the times to learn new skills without any context beforehand.
